THE EDWARDS AQUIFER AUTHORITY WAY
WORDS Roland Ruiz, EAA General Manager
“In 2020, inspired by these three “I” words (inclusion, imagination, innovation), we will continue to build upon a revitalized commitment to serving you -- permit holders, stakeholders and neighbors -- with world-class service, sound science and research, and open and responsive engagement.”
As we enjoy the holiday season, and the conclusion of 2019, it allows for time to reflect on the accomplishments from this past year. Most notably, we are changing and growing from what we have been to what we’ve envisioned we can be and, ultimately, to what we will become. This is the path of inclusion, imagination and innovation that has begun to shape the work of the EAA and to re-invigorate our mission to manage, enhance, and protect the Edwards Aquifer system. In 2020, inspired by these three “I” words (inclusion, imagination, innovation), we will continue to build upon a revitalized commitment to serving you -- permit holders, stakeholders and neighbors -- with world-class service, sound science and research, and open and responsive engagement.
And among the most tangible things you can expect to see in the new year are two new major initiatives: the first- ever EAA Education Outreach Center to be located at the soon-to-be-constructed Morgan’s Wonderland Camp; and the development and operation of a 150-acre field research observatory on the recharge zone acquired through the Edwards Aquifer Protection Program and gifted to the Edwards Aquifer Conservancy by the City of San Antonio for this purpose. Learn more about these exciting developments within the pages of this edition. With these exciting developments and the 25th anniversary of the EAA on the horizon in 2021, we can’t help but feel grateful as we usher in a new year. We are grateful to those who came before us and laid the foundation on which we stand today, and we are ever thankful to all of you for allowing us the opportunity to continue to serve you through our mission.
ON BEHALF OF THE EMPLOYEES AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE EAA, HERE’S WISHING YOU A MOST HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS 2020!
