EAA Design Development Exhibit Concept Review - Questions

We have a variety of schemes shown. This decision should be based on EAA’s preferences. Q: Interior of cave is scenic or sculpted rock (walls and ceiling) –OR- walls only with acoustical ceiling forms of stretch fabric – OR- all photo style panels? Q: Whether it is the fin or sliding pan wall system, is the wall of the theater entrance curved vs. straight (flat)? Q: Sliding wall panels that push to the side opening the wall up to the gallery space –OR baffle doors that rotate to allow access to theater? Q: Do you like the idea of the outside of the panels/fins appearing as if you are entering the opening of a cave as shown on EX-3.0; with the inside surface of the panels/fins appearing like you are inside a cave? Q: Does the 3-D video only display on a high-gain projection screen or can it run on a video panel? Q: Is the main (84”) flat panel in the theater a SmartBoard or a large video monitor? Q: Do you want the demonstration cart inside the theater (Re. 3.4)? Q: Do you want the OmniGlobe in the theater? (Item 4.1.3 - See further notes on page 3 regarding unit) Q: Do you want the (2) additional overhead (42”) monitors for increased visual access? Q: Currently we are indicating the twisted cube style seats in the theater with a quantity of (20). Is this sufficient? Also we are indicating black as the color. Is that preferred? Q: Do you want data and power distribution to the center of the floor in the theater? EAA Requested Action: We will remove the figure descending on the rope. 4.0 Understanding our water source (ref. drawing sheet EX-4.1) Q: Is the floor graphic (map of Texas indicating the location of the aquifer) accepted? (Item 4.2.1 Where does our water come from?) Q: Is the curved wall that creates the implied entry to the main gallery accepted, showing intro text (Item: 4.3.3 About the Edwards Aquifer) Q: Is the topo map (currently shown wall mounted) with video projection accepted? (Item: 4.2.3) The video projection would show where the water is located, underground. And, all types of images of the region are also projected onto this surface---people using water---natural beauty---etc. Does EAA want narration with this –OR- is it all visual with no sound –OR- images with a background audio wash of environmental/nature sounds? Q: Is the approach to 4.3 All About the Flow accepted as the concept approach? Is the design approach still a 3-d sculpted cross-section? Note: We do believe that with the elimination of the green screen we may be able to add a little more length to this exhibit. Q: Is the karst hands-on unit accepted? This is a set of tubes that the visitor turns by hand. One contains karst inside and the other contains gravel or other stone (EAA to recommend). The idea is when rotated, the water is contained within the karst tube where as the water runs through the other material. This would be prototyped at ECI. (Item: 4.3.3) Q: Are we including a video showing the manner in which contaminants enter the system? (Item: 4.3.2)
